Throughout different sessions, ELEMENTS will offer courses in the following areas: 1. Handbuilding & Extruding (Beginner): Handbuilding techniques such as coil, slab, pinch and extruding will be covered. A very good first clay experience. 2. Handbuilding/Modeling (Intermediate): Requires at least one class term of experience. Learn to construct larger, intricate handbuilt pieces. Experience and use multiple, combined techniques. 3. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Beginner): Requires no experience in throwing. Learn to center, pull a cylinder and make basic shapes on the potter's wheel. 4. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Intermediate): Requires at least one class term of experience in throwing (some handbuilding experience recommended). Learn to make and attach handles and spouts, and craft lids for your thrown pieces. 5. Wheel-Thrown Pottery (Beginner/Intermediate): Suitable for beginners and a good development course for those with some throwing experience. 6. Figurative Sculpture: No experience necessary. Craft a detailed human bust. Learn how to measure and properly construct a sculpture that will fire properly. 7. Modeling: Some handbuilding experience needed. Learn the ins and outs of modeling various items in an artistic fashion. 8. Raku: Construct pieces to be fired in the exciting and dramatic raku process. 9. Wheel-Thrown (Advanced) Master lids, handles, attachments and altering forms.
The fee for each regular 8 week class is $185.00. Specialty class fees are listed below. This tuition covers 25 lbs. of KPS clay (instructors preference), glazes and glaze firing for work produced from that bag of clay. Each instructor will advise students of any tools needed for the class; these tools may be purchased at a 10% discounted rate from Kickwheel Pottery Supply. Additional class clay may also be purchased from Kickwheel Pottery Supply.
All ELEMENTS courses run for eight consecutive weeks unless otherwise noted. Each class meets once per week, the dates of each class are listed below in the class schedule. All ELEMENTS regular classes currently offered are for adults ages 13 and over (younger admitted with parental enrollment). We also have a special summer Kids N' Clay course listed below for ages 7-12, not requiring adult enrollment.
ELEMENTS classes are limited to ten (10) students per session. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each adult class is 2 -1/2 or 3 hours in length and children's classes are 2 hours. This time includes set-up/break-down time. Rain checks are not guaranteed for missed classes, makeups will only be granted if applicable space is available in another of your instructors' class periods.

OPEN STUDIO TIME SCHEDULE Whether you are a Student, Studio Renter or Monthly Open Studio Member, you will find a time that is convenient for you to come in and practice or work on your next masterpiece! ELEMEMTS provides a friendly, fun and informative attmosphere to learn and work in all clay avenues. Expert help is available whenever you feel the need for rescue or advise. Open Studio Members pay just 99.00 per month for 30 days of access. We also offer a discount for Annual Membership of only 89.00 per month. This is a savings of $120.00, registration must be paid in advance. Both monthly and annual membership prices include your own shelf.

Forms from Nature (Inter/Adv): A developmental course for those with throwing experience. Functional and decorative wheel-based projects will emphasize altered shapes, combined pieces and unusual textures. Many handbuilding techniques will also be taught. Inspiration for this interpretive course will often be derived from the natural world. Glazing/staining techniques will also be covered. The Thursday night course will focus more heavily on developing wheel-throwing skills. Projects will vary between the two classes. $185.00/eight-week course (BONUS! Handbuilding: Two Perspectives (Beginner/Inter): Learn from two instructors in one course! Students will develop an array of handbuilding skills while making projects for indoor and outdoor use. Create functional and decorative pieces using slabs, pinch pots and templates. Projects may include a footed box, house, teapot, bird pitcher and creature sculptures. Building with Slabs (Beginner/Inter): Learn the basics of creating pieces using flat and textured slabs. Create unique functional and decorative pieces. Projects include a precise box with lid and a tall planter. One class week will be spent on glazing and decorating techniques. $139.00/six-week course

Clay Workshop:
Ongi: Handbuilding on the Wheel: Learn the ancient Korean art of coil-building oversized pots on the wheel. This unique style of "throwing" does not require the same strength or skill. Demonstrations equip students with the skills to create oversized vessels such as vases, umbrella stands, chimneas and planters. Only centering experience is required. Fee covers instruction, project clay and bisque firing. Participants may pay extra to glaze fire their pot. $60.00/per person (all current ELEMENTS students may glaze fire their ongi pot at no extra charge).
Open to everyone, ELEMENTS' end-of-session raku party is a great introduction into this exciting firing process. Create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces or simply witness and learn about this dramatic style of firing. The party is free to attend, firing is only $5 per piece (this price includes glazing, lidded pots count as two pieces). Dozens of glazes are available. Pieces to be fired must be created out of a KPS clay body (preferably raku) and bisque-fired prior to the party. Pot-luck party participants are encouraged to bring a snack or drinks to share. Open Studio Time (all levels): Purchase open studio time by the hour or as a Monthly Membership at ELEMENTS and have access to all studio equipment: electric wheels, slabroller, clay gun, 4" extruder with complete die set, giffin grip, slump molds, etc. Although open studio time is independent study, expert troubleshooting assistance is provided. Open studio hours are offered Monday - Saturday during normal business hours when a class is not in session. Some evening hours are also available. A schedule of hours is provided the week before each class session begins. Studio members may also purchase KPS clay bodies at the student price; this includes bisque firing and Cone 6 glaze firing.
